Bas Geerts
Trained in Marketing, Communications and Event Management Bas worked for 2,5 years in the Dutch entertainment industry (Lowlands, Rolling Stones etc.). In 2000 he switched to work on CSR by joining WWF. At WWF he focused on corporate partnerships, ranging from corporate fundraising to supporting different global supply chains to become more sustainable. While at WWF he has been actively involved in global supply chain initiatives for Timber (FSC), Seafood (MSC), Palm Oil (RSPO), Soy (RTRS), etc. In 2007 Bas joined UTZ Certified, a certification program for sustainable coffee, tea and cocoa. At UTZ Bas coordinated the New Business Development: enabling UTZ to add new products to its portfolio: Palm Oil (partnership with RSPO) and Cotton (partnership with BCI). In 2011 he joined the Aquaculture Stewardship Council as StandardsDirector. Here is responsibility is to implement the ASC standards for responsible fish farming in a credible, mainstream certification program.
