James Foster
James Foster has spent the last 7 years working in East Africa as a Director in the Ministry of Trade in Rwanda and as a strategy consultant on private sector development. James is currently the Country Director of the Chai Project in Tanzania. The Chai Project is seeking to upgrade the competitiveness of the Tanzanian tea industry in general, and to ensure the sustainable profitability of tea farming for smallholders more specifically. Prior to moving to East Africa, James worked as an Economic Adviser to the Department of Trade & Industry in the UK and as a Policy Adviser at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry). James holds a degree in Economics from Cambridge University and a Masters degree in Development Economics from the School of Oriental & African studies.
