Elies Arps

Advisor Sustainable Markets

Elies Arps (1970) holds a Masters degree in Public Administration (Free University in Amsterdam). The first five years of her professional career she worked for Institute for Environment and System Analyses (IMSA Amsterdam) as an advisor and manager external relations. Early 2002 she switched to work for WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) Netherlands. As wildlife trade manager, and later on head of the Species Programme, she was responsible for the development and implementation of the species conservation strategy of WWF Netherlands.

In order to strengthen her experience with the WWF conservation programme and to apply her knowledge elsewhere in the network, between 2008 and 2010 she was seconded to the WWF Latin America and Caribbean Programme in Costa Rica. After returning back to the Netherlands, she started her current position as advisor sustainable markets. In that position she aims at transforming the (Dutch) seafood market towards sustainability through setting up strategic alliances with (Dutch) business and industry and other relevant stakeholders.
